Why is it that people all over the world die daily of hunger, disease, famine; children are molested, starved, beaten, killed - the reaction of most? Its too far away for me to do much about it.
But kill off a celebrity and Oh Boy. The waterworks, public acknowledgements, cries of outrage, shocked faces of people from all across the globe flash across my television in various poses of disbelief.
You saw it with Michael Jackson. Farah Fawcett. And now Patrick Swayze.
While I can see how it causes sadness to their fans - reknowned that they were - why don’t we all sit up and pay the same kind of attention to the world around us.
Cliche. But true.
Every message, sympathy card, video clip etc that was created had time and effort put into it. People took out the time and energy normally reserved for flicking through channels, sifting through emails and posting blogs to share their [united] outrage and hurt at the death of their favourite stars.
Couldn’t some of this precious time be spent acting upon one of the many problems our world is experiencing?
Female babies, as old as 3 or 4hours are still being killed, simply because they were born girls and not boys.
Children are still sold off to wealther, older men for sexual violation.
Human beings - parents, siblings, babies - are trafficked across the world in the incredibly lucrative human trafficking trade.
It would appear that in comparison to the death of a pop star, starlet or actor these are insignificant activities.
And so died humanity.

When will they stop? The voices have now become loud and blended. Its hard to hear individuals, are there any singularities? No.
They are all repeated. Appropriated from one another, stolen from her mind, his book, this film and those songs.
Originality has died, yet again.
Only to be ressurected tomorrow, and destroyed once, twice. And repeat.
